6M + Punchsim = Error 85
I've got a Fanuc 6M and I am trying to get Punchsim's DNC to work with it. I am not having any luck.
Before I started playing with this I was working with a dos based software/part preview program called New Dawn Systems. I've copied the basic settings out of that into the new Punchsim (which by luck happen to match the Punchsim recommended settings) and I'm getting error
85 - Fanuc's Alarm Description: When entering data in the memory by using Reader / Puncher interface, an overrun, parity or framing error was generated. The number of bits of input data or setting of baud rate or specification No. of I/O unit is in correct.
I’m using the exact settings our dos based system used, and they match your recommended settings as well, so I am unsure why it is generating that error.
At first, the machine I was using didn't have COM ports so I tried a USB-SERIAL convertor. I eliminated that, grabbed an older computer to test with, and still have the issue. So now I am onto trying to figure out what else it might be.
Right now my settings are:
9600 baud
Parity Even
7 Bits
1 Stop Bit
Xon/Xoff (Tried RTS/CTS too)
ISO (Other options are ASCII and EIA, tried EIA, didn't work)
Wait for Xon (tried yes and no)
Any other suggestions? I'd really like to get out of the super slow dos era application. It is very much tedious to use.
