    grounding Q's

    greets all,
a few questions about grounding and shielding..
this is for a plamsa table with homebrew PS, gecko drives, breakout board, etc.

    1. i'm running shielded cable to my steppers.. where should i connect the
shielding? table, earth ground, stepper body, all of the above? both ends,
    or leave one end float?

    2. ok to connect PC ground, PS ground and Table ground all together?
can i ground stepper body to table?

    3. anything i've missed? biggest source of noise, best way to isolate, etc.

On most profesionally built tables the table itself is connected to physical earth ground and the plasma + lead goes to this ground, this point is then ran to a ground plate in the cabinet etc where the shields and motor grounds are connected. This includes PC common and PS commons. All shields should connect one end only.
Also CNC table torches have a large copper braid overall shield which is grounded at the table end.
