Question changing gears low to high M41-M43

Hi, Can someone please tell me about gears changing (low/high) on a PUMA 2500xy. Such as importance in spindle life and spindle speed acceptable for low and high gears. I see that M41-M43 are codes to change gears but when I use these codes in my program it just stops on that line. Are there additional codes required? I've searched the internet about this and can't seem to find an answer. Please post example program.

Just wonder, did you call M5 before M41?

I'm pretty sure you need to program M61 (low speed) or M62 (high speed) to change over the spindle windings. You don't have a gearbox, so M41-M43 have no function.

Thank you for your response. Would you know what the desired spindle speeds are for low and high gears?

I believe M61 goes up to 900 RPM.
