    CNC Lathe Work

Need 200 pieces of the attached drawing. Will require a sample prior to the production run.

    Thanks,
    Walt

    Additional Information

I don't specify it on the drawing, but a small (.005/.010) 45 would be acceptable in the inside corner. Then the same tool could be used to do everything but the parting operation. I could do the chamfer left after the cutoff.

    Thanks,
    Walt

    More Info

Judging by the questions I've been getting, my post isn't nearly as clear as I thought it was. I re-did the drawing and added a dxf.

Hopefully, this will clear the muddy waters.

    Cheers,
    Walt

Would probably be cheaper if you accepted a small radius in that inside corner. All turning tools are ground with some radius on the tips. Say a .007 radius tool. Dead sharp tools leave a real crappy finish, even .007 is on the sharp side. A .015 or so would be even better.

A .007R will give a good finish. I agree that a fillet radius will be easier than a 45 degree chamfer of that size. However, it can be made without making a special tool. Use Kennametal CCGT-21.5X.0LF KC5025 insert. This insert has a .0015R corner. It will do the small 45 degree you requested, and provide an acceptable finish. Just keep the feedrate down to around F.001 (or less) and you should be fine.

A sharp corner (no radius) gives a crappy finish. Even a radius as small as this one will give a decent finish.

And, no, my company's owner wouldn't be interested in quoting this job.

    A vendor has been found.

Thanks to everyone that took the time to give me a quote.
