    Vortech 4x8 cnc router

    Hello All
I bought a Vortech 4 x 8 cnc router with servo and ball screw upgrade
This machine has been a nightmare from the start
There is no support and no specs and anything or labals on parts
95% of my work is 3D cutting and surfing.
This machine randomly loses count on all axes
I am thinking the drive boards are just to cheap.
There where many other promblem with machine that have been fix
    do to pour assembley.
I was thinking just strip the hole machine and put a retofit controller.
But it would be cheaper to put Gecko drive board in.
But i dont have anything info on sevo moters.
This machine been in my shop for 3 months and never cut a job yet.
The big question is what to do
I would like to try to put new drive board in but dont know amps of servos
or even know how to wire it
    Any sugestions would be great.
    Thanks Chris

sad to hear you are another victim of the nashua new hampshire rip off, you can find the parts you need for the machines in chicago

    www.kelinginc.net

jon is a standup guy and backs his parts with good warranty

kieth macconnel and brent allard are a waste of time when it comes to these routers

here are some pictures of the changes to the geckos and the 72v power supply

    good luck

Why don't ask vortech, or they do not have a good support?

From what I understand Jim you are not a customer of Vortech CNC Routers, so I would advise not talking bad about a company that you have no dealings with.

    Vortech routers

I just talked to 3 Vortech router customers and all 3 have the machine running however not without some dive board problems at some point. All the people I talked to say this machine is accurate for them. All 3 people I talked to say that this is the best bang for the buck that money can buy and I seem to agree with them. After all it is not a $150000 real deal heavy duty industrial unit

    Hello Tom9731
As for my story i had mine upgraded to servo and ball screw
    total cost 15.000
They under rated the servo moters and did direct drive
they hand grinded the shafts for the incoders
The moter collits had no keyset
There for my repeat to location was off by .25 to .5l
(((Yes 1/4 inch to half inch)))
As for the machine its a good buy for a do it yourself kit
They came to see it and scatched there heads and left me hanging
After a year with a 15,000 dollar coffee table in my shop
I did a total Retro fit controller
    The machine runs perfect
    Good Luck Chris

I had a P.O. drawn today for a 4' X 8' Vortech, but after reading all of these comments and the fact that Keith is very fast to get me off the phone when I call for questions regarding the machine, I think I am going to have my bank hold the payment transfer and look elsewhere. I have owned CNC routers since 1990 and have had my fair share of the BS on non-functioning machines and story-teller sales people. I / we have retrofitted three machines and would of thought by 2013 that a company can actually have a working machine for $15,000. I am getting too old for nightmares and it's good today that there are places like this that can help us from making bad choices, though it's sad that some of you guys had to be the teachers.
If I am wrong and these machines and problems have been addressed I would appreciate if someone can let me know. After thirty years of being a manufacture I am not longer in a hurry. I still have my 5000 pounds of 1988 9' X 12' L-TEC workhorse to do the daily grind, now on it's third operating system and still chug'in along!
    Thanks,
    Tony C.

    Re: Vortech 4x8 cnc router

My question is this...has anyone ever taken their Vortech / Industrial CNC machine and gutted it?
Have you replaced the Inverter. small mother board, Stepper Drivers etc...and gotten it to work?
    If so...can we talk?
My story is like all the other posts. BUT...mine works. BUT...if something breaks...it 's a boat anchor.
I'd pay for the gut. I'd sell it.
That said...after I have my new 10' and 4' running.
    Thanks.
