First timer! www.foundry101.com
Took a day cruise out to Spokane (4 hours each way from where i am, Seattle).
Here are 2 pictures of my first aluminum castings. I just used small trinkets that he suppled. They are not sanded or anything still in the raw. I was going to purchase his furnace and crucible for sale as well, maybe some one more experienced can tell me if it looks good.
Class was $45 dollars per person and lasted a bit over 2 hours. He casted one part from scratch, showing me how to do it. Then let me do 2 pieces all by myself. We did one flatter piece, then more advanced 3d object. My brother took the class with me hence why there are 4 parts in the pictures. Best $90 dollars i have spent in a while!
Anyways, im building a 3 axis huge cnc machine and it only makes sense to have a mini foundry that i can cast more exotic parts that the 3 axis machine cannot accomplish. I can however slice up the "exotic parts" into layers and cut out "slices" of the part, then reassemble them all together and use that as a piece to make a mold from. Anyways.. lemme know what you thing.
