    Desparate for Drive Pulleys

I am upgrading the servos on my system. My previous servos had an 8mm bore and 3mm keyway. The shafts on my new servos require a 14mm bore and a 5mm keyway. I have been searching for nearly a month to find a source for pulleys. I took the current pulleys to a local machine shop but he's charging me $130 to bore out 2 pulleys and keyways. He said he didn't have a 5mm broach so I guess I would be buying that for him. I would think you could replace all the pulleys and belts for that much. I am stuck without these.

Does anyone have a source for pulleys? I've checked McMaster-Carr and the typical sources.

You are in the wrong forurm section. Post your ad under the above "forum" work and request for quote (RFQ). Someone will make you brand new ones probably for half that price. I didnt know the RFQ section of the site existed, now everything i need made i post it up there and people private message me with quotes. :P hope that helped!

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into that if my search goes much longer. I guess what I was asking is rather than a quote to modify my existing ones, does someone know of an internet source for new pulleys and belts?

Yes people can mod yours as well, or it may be cheaper to literally make brand new ones.

    Hello,
I think you can find a lot of alternatives to having them machined if you do a Google search for timing pulleys and belts. You should be able to find some alternatives without a keyway and just use a set screw tightened on the current keyway of the shafts. Here is an example of my search and there are many more results to follow up in the search.

Good luck! Do you have the capability to machine them yourself?
There is also a very good source for CNC related items on eBay at the Hubbard CNC store:

    Jeff...
Thanks to all for your replies. Jeff, I sent an email to Stock Drive Products and immediately received a reply from this robbie guy asking me who I was and what my address was. I replied and then heard nothing. Not impressed so far. I'm going to have them bored out as I don't have time to shop right now.

    Thanks again.
