    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

    Ger21,

I have a quick question / dilemma which I hope I can put into words and I'm hoping for some insight in getting around this issue
    .

My Z max travel is 6" and I need to use a jig that is approaching 5" and I'm running into a "Safe Z" error when attempting to mill this part but I don't understand exactly what its telling me so that I can get around the issue. I have safe "Z" checked but don't know what will happen if I uncheck it?

Can you or anyone for that matter help?

Show me your Config > Safe Z screen.
It should be set to a little less than zero, and be using machine coordinates.

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

I have been using your 2010 screen set for some time, almost from the begining. I have hesitated to ask but would like to know if there is a way to show the profile name being used on the screen. Both my son and I use it in different ways so we both have a prifile. Not sure it would be any help for others with the work it may take. I tried to see if anyone has talked about this but not able to find any questions like this. Thank You for this great screen set and every one that have contributed.

Hit the TAB key. The profile is shown on the Diagnostics screen.

Can we expect a similar Screen set for UCCNC? If yes anytime soon?

Yes, it's almost finished. I'm working on a manual, and waiting for a new release of UCCNC to fix a bug in the current version that has a minor effect on the screen.
I need to make some modifications for the different motion controllers, and get it to some beta testers, as I don't have a machine running UCCNC. I have my UC300ETH with some push buttons for testing.

Note: It's 1920x1080, and I removed the UCCAM portion.

    Here's a preview of it.

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

    Gerry,

How difficult is it to create a new screen? I want to use 2 screens, one touchscreen for control and the other for everything else. I haven't seen one like that.
i.e. is it VB requiring studio or is it simpler than that?

There's really no programming needed unless you want to do "non standard" things.
You just use a Mach3 Screen Editor like Machscreen.
For a basic screen, you just start with a blank background and add your controls. If you want fancier buttons and backgrounds, then you need to create the graphics for them.
Note that Mach3 doesn't support dual screens, so you'd be creating a single screen that would span across your two monitors.

    Non standard... for example?
I guess I will figure out what you mean shortly, I just placed my orders to build a CNC router so I will be hip deep soon enough. I'm just getting a feel for it.
Bummer about dual screen support - but I suppose thats one example of non standard.

    Non standard... for example?
For example, the checkboxes and radio buttons in my 2010 screenset.
Mach3 does not have those types of controls.
They are actually LED's, with transparent buttons placed on top of them. When you click on them, you are clicking on the transparent button, which calls a macro, which toggles the state of the LED. The LED's are actually images of the checkbox, in both the checked and unchecked state.

    Hello Ger,

I have started to experiment with the probing wizard and have a question.

With probe X-Y offset set to a value and auto zero coordinates selected, shouldn't the coordinates go to the probing center (Pocket Center Finding) + or - the probe X-Y offset?

    Thank you for your time.

    Kind regards,

    Rob

Maybe? I'll have to look when I get home tonight.
I recall that there may have been some issues with the Probing Offsets. But I never released an update, as I only had one person ask about them in 6 years.

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

    Problem solved!

Ger has send me a new macro and everything is fine

I use the circular probing wizard for referencing my machine to a hole in my fixed touch off plate, the X and Y offset is the center of the hole.
After probing, my machine will be zero’d in the exact same mechanical position every time.

    Thanks again Ger:cheers:

    Best regards,

    Rob.

I just made an XY centering probe last week design for that exact purpose if I understand your question correctly I'd be interested in those changes to the macro.

Jerry, would you mind posting them somewhere I could also get to them. I'd be much appreciated.

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

I have just installed the Screenset 2010. I’m trying to setup the Simple Auto Zero.

    I use Metric units.

I have a probe tool with thickness of 19.1mm. I have set in the DRO field Plate Thickness this value: +19.1000

In the DRO field Clearance Plane I have set a value +25.000

When I click the Simple Auto Zero button on top of the screen the tool goes down. It touches the plate and after one second it goes further down. Please see this short movie.
I also get then this error message: “probe ignore activated at call for probe”

    https://youtu.be/cIHL4w_q1Do

It is also totally random, from the 20 times or so I had 3 times the Simple Auto Zero works perfectly. It touches the plate, goes up 1mm, touches the plate again and goes up to the Clearance Plane value +25.000

Sometimes with the second move it was higher than 1mm (7mm or so), than it goes down, touches nothing and goes up to +32.000.

    I don’t trust it.

I had a fully and good working standard Mach3 installation with no problems at all. Until I installed this morning this screenset.

What can or must I do to fix this problem.

    Thanks,

    Ritmeester

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

At a guess, I would say the problem is not in the screenset but in your electrical connections. You are most likely getting some noise on the Probe line, and that can and will cause all sorts of horrible problems. Been there plenty of times.

    Cheers
    Roger
