I use it with .020 tapered bit with no problems. I've used it with a regular old carbide .030 SE EM.

For lithos I used a raised MDF 'platform' to get the workpiece higher up. The movement from the fixed plate back to it's last position, never goes z then x or y, it combines movements and most often would cause the bits to hit as it got near that raised work area.

    I don't see how that's possible.
The code tells the Z to retract to the clearance plane, and then move X and Y together back to the start position.
The XY move isn't even called until the Z stops moving.

Perhaps you had your clearance plane set incorrectly?

    Hi Gerry,

    Just a quick question...

When I use the "Go to Zero" button, the system seems using the "Work Coordinate" ... Is it possible to change this function to the "Machine Coordinate" ??

    Thanks

Goto Zero is a Mach3 system function and can't be changed.
However, you can change the button to execute a VB script macro, and have the macro go to Machine 0,0,0.
    So yes, it's possible.

Hi Gerry, I am using your screen set and I would like to know if I can incorporate the looks (Tabs) and functions of your screen set in this pendant ( ShuttleRU ) before I buy it.
    Thank you

Are you saying you want the display on the pendant LCD to look like the 2010 Screenset? If so, I have no idea what you can do with the pendant's screen editor.

If that's not what you're asking, can you clarify the question for me?

    Thanks for that answer Gerry.

But, how can I change that button ?? I have your screenset running, but I don't have the "development kit" ...

    Thanks

Actually, I'm using the "2010.set", but as soon I'll have time, I'll change my display for a bigger one, so I will use the "2010 (1680x1050).set" or maybe the "2010 (1920x1080).set".

    Bye !!

Ref X and Slaved A Axis

Ref X macro only directs the x axis to move. How do you do a Slave axis when using two motors (X and A) but still wanting to do a Ref X.

    Thanks in advance

If the A is slaved, then it should move with the X.
If not, you probably need to change the Ref X macro (M885.m1s) to RefCombination(9).

See the back of the 2010 manual for information on modifying the homing macros.

My A is slaved to X in Mach, and the ref x works just as it should.

I believe mine does as well, but I'd need to heat up my garage to check.

Over the years, I've read that many people get different results when homing slaved axes.
Some need to use RefCombination, some do not. Not sure if it's related to different versions, or possible something else.

But if the standard homing doesn't work, using RefCombination should.

Ref X and Slaved A Axis Answer

Mach 3 does not recognize the A slave to the X Axis during a ref x unless the INPUT Signals for A are enabled. (Definitely a Mach 3 oversight as it should not matter)

Originally I did not have a Slave. I added a second X Axis drive later.

Something to be careful about as only one of the two Drive motors will move during a REF if the inputs for the slave are not enabled. Definitely an issue.

    Thanks for your insight

If you only have a single home switch on the master axis when using a slaved axis, go to Config > General Config, and enable "Home Slave with Master". That should fix your problem.

Hi, I know that with some BOB (PMDX 122) you can connect two drives to the same pin this way you don't have to slave a drive to another one and by doing this you can add another drive, the way I'm set up, two motors for my Y, one for the X, one for the Z, and the one for my A indexer, hoping this can help.

I would also like to know how to find the center of a block with the XY Probing Wizard; maybe this picture can make myself more understanding.

    Thank you
