    4-axis turning

I am trying to turn a round part with my 4th-axis using a ball endmill. When I generate the code (regardless of cut tolerance), it splits the A axis moves into many segments (resulting in a LOT of small Z moves that mess up the surface). The part is totally round, so theoretically it should generate one 360 degree A axis move for each X position. Ideas?
    Thanks

You don't need to use your 4th axis to do round "turnings". We regularly to 2' to 8' long full round columns with flutes, inlaid panels, etc. We do it all with 3 axis functions. You just have to crawl out of your box to do the thinking. Learn how to index your parts and you will be able to do all kinds of supposed 5 axis work with only 3 axis.

What I failed to mention is that round surface is radiused. And, I am needing low scallop height. So... that equals about 60 stepovers of varying Z height. Not so simple to program long hand.
