    Variable angle milling head

    Hello everyone,

I am an engineer at a company in mid michigan and I am working on a machining project for some shafts that we just recently began making in house. The project is putting a keyway on a tapered shaft with a 5 degree angle. I would like to figure out a way to cut this key way without having to develop complicated fixturing to take the taper out as a factor (lifting the shaft to go from 5 to 0). Is there a variable angle attachment for the HAAS CNC that would allow me to set the mill bit at 5 degrees so that when I run the head up at a 5 degree angle in the program the end of the end mill would be parallel to the face of the shaft?

*Oh; just so you all know a 5-axis table is definitely out of the budget*

Can you use a keyseat cutter instead of an endmill and machine it from the side?

    Keyseat cutter might work

It looks as though that Big Kaiser might work, I gotta read up!
