    Thread Milling , internal

    Hi,

I reapir motor bike Heads on my HS1 Horizontal,

programs have been created on surfcam by a programmer,
but i want my Independance ,

I have a internal Hole bored to 19.15MM

and want to generate a 18 tpi right hand thread,(internal)

Can this be done on the HS1 without surfcam?

My boring bar is 20 MM diameter with a 55 degree insert,

The thread is started at the bottom of the hole ,

    Any tips will be appreciated,

    John, BRIT Bike Nutter,

I'd recommend you go to the Haas website and download the mill control workbook (available in a pdf file). There is a section in there (page 70) on how to threadmill using simple commands.

It is better that you fully understand what is going on, because some tinkering is usually required to get exactly what you need to produce.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)

How are you going to get a 20mm bar into a 19.15mm hole?
Apparently I don't know anything, so please verify my suggestions with my wife.

    thread milling

    thanks for spotting that,

    39.15 is the hole size,

    not 19.5

I programmed it up quick. Here's a 20mm dia tool cutting an 18 TPI thread, 39.15 dia start hole, 1.625" OD of the thread. Starts @ Z-1. and cuts CCW up to Z.050.

Also, what kind of bike are you working on? I have the top end off of my '04 V-Rod right now, I'm getting it back running tomorrow. I do bike parts for a hobby.
