I got that base when I got the mill, has worked great, easy to fix in place, but my rapids aren't as fast as Hoss's

    Good news, thanks.
Love that it only raises the mill about a 1/2 inch.

Hope this isn't too far off topic. But when you "Fix in Place" are there any provisions to level it? I would love to get one of those, but I've got the typical 2-3 degree slope for drainage in my garage. Any info would be great.

Lots of updates sent out to include C7 Ebay ballscrews into the list of possibilities for the CNC conversions.
    Options, options, options.

    Hoss,

Congrats on the new Grizzly mini mobile base. Do you already have the G0704 mill/base up on the mobile base? If so, did you have to disassemble it in order to lift the mill up on it?

I have this same mini mobile base also. I was a little disappointed in how much play the feet pins had in the retaining tubes. Between the play of the feet pins and the remaining two wheels, I'm not sure I like sturdiness of it.

Still, if it works for you, it should work for me. I'm never going to run my mill to the redline like the West Virginia Mad Man.

Nope, was going to put it on today but got busy with the update instead, maybe tomorrow.

superfly If you can put the two thunbscrews on the downhill side, it should have enough thread to level you up. Mine gets pretty solid when the weight of the mill gets on the screws.

    You're welcome!
Hope I didn't miss anybody. Many probably won't find it much use if
they're already done but the DIYers still waiting to convert can save
$500 vs ready made kits out there.

Got the mobile base under there, makes it real easy to move around but
its going to need shims to level it and get rid of a serious case of the wobbles.

Hoss, quick question on tramming. The original tramming G0504 column video appears to be unavailable on YouTube. Is there another source? I looked on your G0504 site and didn't find it there either.

I completed and buttoned up my control box yesterday, completely disassembled the mill and reassembled as I lubed, adjusted and completed each axis. X, Y and Z work like a charm now. 200IPM on X and Y and 125 on Z. I am using the larger NEMA 34 motor. I haven't spent a lot of timing fussing with the tuning yet but wondered if the lower Z IPMs was typical?

Cut my first "air" yesterday too. It was a thing of beauty.

Another question on flood - you mentioned using an 800GPH pump. At one point you had a 5 gallon square bucket in the base of the G0504. Is 5 gals of coolant sufficient with that pump? I just scored an adjustable flow 1 to 1200 GPH (at 5' head) but need to complete my chip/coolant tray first.

    cheers,

    Hey Michael,
Here's the first tramming vid, the rest are on my Projects page under G0704 Tramming.
A big Nema 34 won't be superfast, it's more for grunt. 125 is certainly acceptable, would expect it could do near double that though.
It's actually a 4 gal pail, plenty with my setup but I don't have it gushing, more like a 1/8" steady stream.

Thanks for all the answers! Doing my 3 bolt head mod now, tramming aid blocks then assemble the head and tune the axis.

That's strange! When I searched your channel on YouTube for "tram" last night it turns up the parts 2 & 3 but not part 1. If searching for "tramming" it turns up all of them. Strange search behavior.

    cheers,

Wanted to thank you for the update Hoss, first beverage of your choice is on me if we ever meet. I haven't done the conversion yet, still working on the building and working 12 hr days at the real job but I'm looking forward to uncrating the mill. You're a good man Hoss, thanks.

Thanks, sorry work is blocking your fun for now but you have more choices now for converting at least.

Hoss, How do you embed the youtube videos in your message? I guess I'm overlooking something.

Obviously I'm not Hoss, but on the video you want to link, it shows the code to paste. Somewhere next to it there should be a button that says something like "Show Long Link". IIRC, if you use the long link it will embed the actual video. If you use the short link it just links to the you tube site.
