It uses a 5 port since it's a double acting air cylinder otherwise it wouldn't retract and the cylinder rod would rub on top of the drawbar.
You could use a 3 port solenoid if you use a single acting cylinder with spring return, that's what I used on the first pdb on the x2.
The bellevilles have no control over retracting the cam/rod off of the drawbar to create clearance to prevent rubbing.

    Hi Hoss,

What is a good source for the misc. cap screws, nuts, washers used in the CNC conversion? I know McMaster-Carr has a great selection but their ordering quantities are often quite large. I will eventually want to build up some hardware stock but not 100 pieces at a time.

    Thanks,
    Joe

As recommended in the plans there is also boltdepot.com, you can order only as many as you want or in bulk.
The Nutty Company - Leading Supplier of Stainless Steel Nuts and Bolts is another.

I haven't forgotten about the PDB 3, had another sad family matter but the parts are machined now, just some tapping, deburring and powdercoating to do.
The mill ran great, the parts came out perfect, nice to have the extra pressure with the flood and washdown hose and not one chip or drip on the floor.

No the stepper mounts were machined from ally a while back for the phase 3 update, note the red powder coated parts.

Powder coating done, the yellow looks more vibrant in person.
Have some goodies coming in the next couple days so I'll be busy with that but should get this done this weekend.

I am super pumped. Been playing with a bench top router. The x6 1500gt yearning to eat up aluminum and steel. I don't know what took me so long to find all the amazing upgrades you have come up with. I totally overlooked the G0704 until I saw your videos!

Hoss, what is going on with the double nutted screws? I never heard the results of them.

    Re: Hoss's G0704

I am using Hoss's probing screenset and have a few questions

    1. what does the auto tool set do on the main screen?

    2. how do you change the size of the probe in the macro? I am using different size probes depending on the hole sizes and need to know how to change it.

    3. What is the largest and smallest holes you can use the ID and OD center probing?

    4. How can you use the probing to set the tool lengths in the tool table?

    Thanks for all your help
