    AntiVirDog Trojan

I got nailed yesterday morning looking at a thumbnail at this site. You do NOT want this trojan on your computer. It is impossible to get off with my knowledge and I'm not that slow. I'll be taking my laptop in for professional help as a full day was wasted trying to do it on my own. This is the second time i've had problems here but not the second time I've thwarted an attack. This is probably my favorite site, but then my laptop was my favorite computer. Just sign me off as very bummed out.

Some of the fixes are more scams and want you to buy the product to get it off. The manual way doesn't always work as I found out after a few attempts. It's in the shop at the moment with a $40-105 quote. Yes, anti virus/malware programs are cheaper. I let my trend Micro lapse and none of the on line cleaners like HouseCall worked or found it. I'll be shopping around looking for a good AV program to update all my comps. Any suggestions for a good one?

I have had excellent results with web root:
    http://www.webroot.com/En_US/index.html
it got rid of a very similar virus on my wifes computer and I also use it on every computer at work( I am an IT guy) I have also used malwarebytes
anti malware and also super antispyware <-- both free and work well!! usually with this type of infection you need something on the computer before you get hit, also you are usually infected before you realize it and it fires up on the next website you go to.

I've been using the free version of AVG for several years.

if you go to advanced mode then you should be able to go to startup and not allow it to run when you boot up , i had times i hadn't even realized i had viruses until i looked at that tool

I used AVG free edition for ages, but have recently switched to Avast, it caught a few that AVG didn't (it's also free).

You should load up with AVG Anti-Virus, this is very good, & you don't even know its there once it is set up set up

ImanCarrot I don't know about a free version,I would say a free version will not be as affective as the one you pay for

i never use avg but used avast , i liked it until they changed the interface and a few other things , I'm using panda cloud now (free) its the leanest and best antivirus that I've used yet , its not a hog like other antivirus and its effective
