    Question 0.3mm Brass

We manufacture models trains and we currently have our 0.3mm brass etched. The brass is either etched to 0.15mm or etched right through.

Would I be able to do this using a 70w laser?
How would I stop the laser from reflecting off the metal?
if I can't do it using brass could you suggest a laserable material with similar thickness and bending characteristics as brass?

    Hillcraft,

You will not be able to do this with 70 Watts at the wavelength of the CO2 laser.
Brass can be 'marked' using 'thermark' or similar product but not etched. I think the brass is just too good a reflector.

    Tweakie.
CNC is only limited by our imagination.

    0.3mm material

What other material could I use that is 0.3mm thick, can be engraved to 0.15mm and will not break if folded along an engraved line?

No metals would fit those requirements. You get a more precise result with etching anyway.
