    vacuum plenum

i am gonna make a new plenum fot the router, last one was 1.5" squares .5 wide and .375 deep in four zones.

are smaller channels better, is there a formula, we use high cfm blower

are there advantages between aluminum and phenolic (grade) as the last one i made from mdf and sealed well.

This may be too late for you but I made a phenolic top for my Precix using a 1 inch square with .250 channels. I also used the Besse and Neimi design using steel plugs in 240 vacuum holes to zone my table. Worked well. However, I later changed that top with a 1 inch cast aluminum top with 30mm (I think) squares. This allowed me to use Better Vacuumpods on it. I have since dis mantled this Precix and kept the vacuum top for a custom build. I can tell you that aluminum is expensive, hard to machine but definitely worth it. That being said, I am now semi retired but bought a used Flexicam 5x12 for my retirement. It has a 25mm phenolic table with 6 zones. The channels are 9mm (.360) and .375 round gasket from AllStar works great. I feel the larger channel gives me better flow throughout the spoilboard. One day my house in California will sell and I will use the existing phenolic table as a plenum and top it with 1 inch of aluminum. I will then use the Bessie / Neimi style square designed to use my own pod made from delrin.
