hello all,
Ive got an electrical question, and will be talking to an electrician at some point, but was wondering if anyone here has some idea what i'll be getting myself into first! I have a Bridgeport series II mill and a Mori SL-1 in a cargo container which will be used as a shop. Unfortunately this pretty much cannot be moved, (not for an inability to physically move it, but for lack of a closer site) and the main is 1000ft away. I believe i'm looking at about 7 amps for the Bridgeport and 34 for the mori, so if i can get 60 amps, breaking off 120 for the PCs and lights things should be good.... what cable would i need to run to make this possible? both use VFD (actually, the mori isn't retrofitted yet, but will be) so there is no need for 3 phase. If there is a huge price difference, i'll be oik with 40Amp and not run the two machines at the same time. My hope is to use (sort of) affordable wire like 3 AWG copper instead of zero, but I don't know enough about it. My expectation is to bury this in PVC at 2 feet depth. So, how ridiculous is this distance? If its even realistic, what wire should i use? thank you for your time!
