    1/2 ANPT ID THREAD

    Hope someone can help me. I am trying to get a correct program to do an ID .500 anpt (same as npt) > I would like to do a G76 canned cycle but my post comes out totally wrong. any help would be great. The thread starts at z zero and ends at z-.690 max depth. Thanks for you help.

    Forgot to add in the machine is a HAAS sl-20. Any help would be appericiated. Thanks again.

    no brainer

    use a pipe tap.
    Be carefull what you wish for, you might get it.

    Sorry can not use a pipe tap on a titanium aircraft part. If anyone is able to write up the canned cycle or just the G76 line to incorporate the angle I would be greatly appericiative.

    Below is an example of a 4 TPI thread with a 3 inch taper per foot.
    The “I” value is calculated by the radial amount from the target point to the finished diameter.
    On an OD thread this will usually be a negative value. On an ID thread this will usually be a positive value.
    In this case we start at Z.5
    TPF = 3.0 Length of thread in program =3.97
    TPF/2 = 1.5 Length of thread + dist to start posit = 4.47
    Solve for I
    12(I) = 4.47(1.5)
    12(I) = 6.705
    I = 6.705/12
    I = .55875
    I = .559
