Probing for setup and productivity gains

So I was reading this thread on the HAAS forum: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/haas_m..._you_know.html

and had to ask the question here...

could a Tormach or 3rd party vendor probe be used with Mach 3 to do what the HAAS with Renishaw probe is capable of doing?

    ABSOLUTELY!

There are the Tormach built in routines for orienting the axis with the angle of the workpiece, finding corners/edges and bore centers. But you can certainly write your own macros to do many of the things mentioned for the Rennishaw probe.

Could one of you savvy programmers wright an addition to the probe screen that probes bosses and aligns the 4th axis?
