McMaster-Carr - are they for real???

Due to the ever-increasing complexity of U.S. Export regulations, McMaster-Carr has decided to only accept orders from a few, long-established customers of ours overseas. We will not accept your order and regret any inconvenience this causes you.

    Your order has been cancelled.
Now, good thing I didn't try to order a ballscrew from them, imagine the telling off I'd be given then! Whew..(flame2)

Anyone know of a good (and preferably cheap, not onsrud-cheap) place to order metric solid carbide up- down- and compression bits?

    Interesting response from McMaster

In speaking with my local congress critter recently , Once I told him im in
manufacturing ....he begged me to build exportable products.

I have exported stuff sold though Ebay very easy, Not sure why McMaster
would be such a stickler about exporting, Its costly, Usually $50-$75 US to ship
even the smallest product, but if customer needs the part, sell it

Not sure why McMaster would do this but I'm sure our current administration is deeply involved.
Everything I read is more or less trying to encourage US business to export more except the knuckleheads currently running this country are generally clueless when it comes to business... I could go on and on but I think you can see my point.

It's not a new thing with McMaster-Carr. There are plenty of threads here about them not shipping to Canada. Been that way for several years at least.
