Switching Driver boards- What is AM and AP?

Just want to know what OUT AP and OUT AM translates to. Is AP positive and AM negative?

A little research and it looks like AP is "A PLUS" and AM is "A MINUS"

Just thought it was weird using AP and AM instead of A+ and A- on the docs.
