When the DIFFerence between the actual position on Z and the commanded position on Z become too great, this alarm is generated. It usually occurs when there is a mechanical bind or collision on Z.

Check for chips in the ball screw/slide area, or some other mechanical binding with covers, slides, ball screw etc. if no oops has occurred.

It may be helpful to watch the load meter on Z (actual position - page down a few times) as you move with the pulse wheel to watch for load increasing. You can also see RAPA, RCON and DIFF on another page to watch DIFF increasing if there's a bind.

    Best regards,

For whatever reason, the machine just started running, and has been running for two shifts. Not sure what the problem was. Thank you for your replies!

check if Z axis is lubricated properly.
If it is vertical m/c check condition of balancing hydraulic cylinder also (maybe there is no such a cylinder on your machine).
