    Re-tapping a hole VF-7

I just started working with this Haas machine two months ago. Anyway, today I had to tap my first holes (1/4-20). So I tapped them all first to the depth that I thought I needed, and ended up having to go 1/16" deeper, so I adjusted my "Z" value in my G84 line and re-ran the holes. Well the tap started to cut immediately on the first hole and eventually broke?

So this thing does have rigid-tapping, but does it not orient before each hole? To me it looks like it just starts from wherever the spindle happens to be at the moment?

    Thanks

There is also a 'repeat rigid tapping' parameter to turn on. Maybe that is what that is for, so it will use the encoder index as a start point!
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)
