    Unhappy Communication

I am trying to send a program from my laptop to my VMC40 1989 model. When I send the program to the VMC it produces a bunch of Errors on the controller. I am using Part Master Comms by Dolphin Cad/Cam. The program I am trying to run is also produced by Dolphin Cam.
PS. I am also using Iogear USB to Serial adapter with a DB9 t0DB 25.

1 - Is your DB9 - DB25 wired as is shown in the manual?
2 - Most of the time the USB emulators do not work or have occasional issues (I used 1 for a few years but started having too many errors). A proper (laptop) card is $150 and is HIGHLY recommended.
3 - Are your com settings set as per the manual.

DarBee you were right about the USB emulators. I pluged the RS232 into my old Dell desk top and it worked fine. Do you think I can have someone install a DB9 card in my laptop? I need to be able to DNC from my laptop because I am using the desktop to run another machine using Mach3. Thank's for the help!!!!

    Darbee,

You may consider the Calmotion USB interface rather than fooling around with updating your laptop and still having to hassle with cables and slow baud rates due to electrical noise and the such. Here is a link to the information on them and once you've had and used one, you'll never look back! They are $599 and in stock at CNCPros.

    CALMOTION USB-FADAL MEMORY INTERFACE

    Good luck!

    I have this card.
1 Port Native ExpressCard RS232 Serial Adapter Card with 16950 UART
As you can see it is $82 and is native.
Neil may be interested in the Calmation if he doesn't want one of these.

Just pointing out no need to fuss with RS232 protocol much anymore with the Calmotion interface. Most who try one never go back. Cheers!

You can try the USB to RS232 adapter here:

    That should work...
