    Upload Program with Filename

I can upload programs to our machine fine when the files are named O1234, but i would like to be able to name the files based on the part numbers/names, such as "rear housing".

When i try to upload a program by the file name, i get a 'bad name' alarm. Must the programs be named Oxxx?

Using: DNC Precision, RS232 connection on a TM-1.

    Thanks

Is as close as you're going to get, as far as I know.

This is something I have meant to try for years and never have as I have always named the file as example format above.

But..... I was under the impression that you could name the file anything you wanted (max 8 characters) as long as the actual post program number followed the example above rules. You would still load using the post program number though but the program file would have a convenient file name.

May try this tonight in a bit unless someone knows it is a waste of time.

    Ok, just tried it.

I created a post file named "TEST" while the program number in the actual post was o0002,
    %
    o0002

Inserted USB (really liking that mod)
    Pushed list files
    Pressed keys for TEST
    it F3
and it loaded the file just fine but loads the o0002 program required format and that is still what shows in the files loaded into memory and not TEST.

That's something will be used a lot now that I know you can.

Haven't tried Matt's example, but that actually may be as good or even better solution.

The ability to load file names may/may not be available depending on the software version, as I recall mine is 12.xx something.

I didn't quite understand the question; The way I've always done it is what you guys are talking about:

    File name on computer:
    REAR HOUSING.NC

    Program heading:
    O0000 (REAR HOUSING)

That works just fine on an '07.

It will read the program name in (NAME) if it is in the o#### line or the line after it.
    O3012 ( 911CLUTCH )

    OR
    O3012
    ( 911CLUTCH )

will both show up the same in the program list.
Apparently I don't know anything, so please verify my suggestions with my wife.
