    Re: Huanyang Chinese VFD settings and manual here!

    I think vid should be working now.

    I use a shielded 18-2 stranded copper wire, I bought a roll of it in HD when dong limit switches. The Usb sometimes can be hit or miss but that's what most use, I think it could be more susceptible to noise but never used one. If you have a serial connection I suggest that one, no additional drivers needed and never read of any having trouble with it.

    Re: Huanyang Chinese VFD settings and manual here!

    I need to use USB with the laptop I'm using, so I just ordered one from Amazon with Sunday delivery, for $7.

    So, I just spent two hours testing.

    I made a new cable to the spindle, with twisted wires. (Swapped two wires for correct rotation).
    I grounded the spindle to the VFD.
    I twisted the power cables supplying the VFD (but only after my distribution blocks). There's a heavy cord plugged into the wall before that.
    I changed the REV terminal to Forward Rotation (PD045 = 2).

    It runs exactly the same as before. Only with the correct rotation, and the FOR LED lit up on the VFD.

    I also changed the carrier frequency. It made the motor quieter, but no change in the fluctuations. It was at 3, I changed it to 6. (Also tried 8 briefly)

    Dan, is the 11 amps the current that the VFD is drawing?
    When I set the VFD to display amps, it shows 1.1-1.4.

    No, its the out amps, the current the spindle is drawing, I have a 3kw spindle.

    I mentioned in other threads that the HY only reads running frequency for RPM(most...if not all) and if under load it wouldn't show in RPM, the VFD is going to maintain set frequency. The out amps will show/increase under load.

    Are you sure you have it set to display Amps? It should show the letter A than all 0's when spindle not running.

    Sorry read and answered to quickly, that seems right although high. The plugin reads set amps(PD142) than adds the out amps. If you have a 2.2kw and have PD142 set to 9 amps than the spindle is drawing 10.1 - 10.4 amps. I'm almost certain I'm interpreting this correctly.

    My motor plate reads 11 amps and what's set in PD142. The amp display shows 0 when spindle not running. When running shows averagely 0.0 to 0.2, it increases on acceleration and deceleration.

    I think it's set to 8.5amps. The spindle doesn't list the current, but that's what they show in the Ebay listings for the air cooled spindles.

    Well than according to my calculations spindle is drawing 9.6 - 9.9 amps. To me this seems high with spindle under no load but then again it's not my field and I hope some1 post to elaborate. Possibly spindle manufacture lowers set amps deliberately??

    My 2.2kw spindle only draws ~1.7 amps at 24000 RPM with no load. I'm using an Hitachi VFD. If your no load current is 9 amps that seems too high.

    PD142 looks to be the spindle name plate amp rating. What ever value is set in this parameter will limit the output of the VFD, is how I read it.

    I assumed differently and was incorrect. What threw me off was when my 3kw spindle started at 6000 rpm my readings was 0.0 to 0.1, at 24000 rpm no load readings are 0.4 to 0.6. I didn't think this was possible and lead me to believe what I posted.

    Re: Huanyang Chinese VFD settings and manual here!

    Hi Guys,

    I came across this thread searching "HY04D023B" as that's the VFD that I ordered. I plan to use this for a 5hp 3 phase old planer.

    I haven't even ran wire to mine yet. I would like to run a 20ft cord with a 10-30r nema male plug on it so I can plug it into my dryer outlet. The manual confused the sh** out of me and I've been too busy past week to look further.

    I plan to remove the on/off switch on the planer and 'reset' box so the VFD is wired directly to the motor. Is wiring an on/off switch between the wall and VFD needed if I plan to plug and unplug it when needed?

    Does anyone have recommended parameters I should use? Might be asking a lot so let me know. A soft start and soft wind down would be good. I won't need variable speed.

    The motor is a 5hp 12 full amps draw.

    Yes that's an easy one to do, is the switch on the machine for 240V single phase, if it is it is best to use a switch to turn the power to the VFD ON /OFF, what RPM is the motor, and what RPM range do you want to run it at

    .
    Normally you would wire the 240v into the enclosure together with the VFD, The existing contactor/disconnect SW would be used to drop power to the VFD input on an E-stop, as per most VFD instruction manuals.

    Yeah, the switch is on the machine, then goes to a box that says (reset) then to the motor.

    Pic of motor tag. I'd like to run it at it's full 3400rpm. Pic of similar machine below. Mine is belt drive motor, not direct drive, but shows the on/off switch go to a box then motor.

    (I dont own the product, just figured this would help EVERYone else out that does!!)

    PDF file is 15.8MB (large). It actually is very easy to read and navigate, i was impressed on how informational it is. Hope this helps someone!

    1. I drafed the wire picture. Please see from the link: http://www.jinlantrade.com/Stock%20files/0008.jpg
    2. You can see download the inverter manual from web link:
    http://www.jinlantrade.com/ebay/invertermanual.pdf
    3. I just tell you how to set up VFD as following
    Firstly, adjust the PD013 to 8 (set the setting to factory setting)
    Secondly, adjust the PD005 to 400
    Thirdly, adjust the PD004 to 400
    Finally, adjust the PD003 to 400
    Finally, adjust the PD144 to 3000
    Note: you should set PD013, PD005, PD004,PD003, PD144 in order. It mean you should firstly set PD013, then PD005, then PD004, then set PD003, finally set PD144.
    Note: after you set the all above parameter, then please recheck the PD005, PD004, PD003 value is 400 or not to confirmed that you already set it. (note: please do not check the PD013, or all the setting will go to factory setting)
    The reason we let you recheck is that if you do not set it at 400, then when you run the spindle motor, the spindle motor will be over-current, then the spindle will very hot and then within 5 minutes, it will broken.
    That setting format dosn't look like what I have. I have a huajiang 1.5kw vfd that came with my .8kw spindle and the format on inverter display is P0-xx not the pd-xxx. Framiliar?

    Huanyang Chinese VFD settings and manual here!

    Hi guys.
    I noticed my Mach3 and spindle (1.5kW water Cooled) are not working as expected.

    The issue is: when I set the spindle speed to the minimum on Mach3, the spindleis is actually spinning at 24000 rpm (top speed).

    If I select the Mach3 spindle speed to the full steam ahead, the spindle nearly stops.

    I've tested the PWM board signal (0-10v) and the output was 9.9V when the spindle was at 24000rpm - but Mach3 was around 800rpm

    The relays are also working (it does spin CW and CCW when demanded.)

    So what I did wrong????

    Please check the snapshots.

    [FIXED]
    Dir low active and step low active on spindle's Port & Pins had the wrong value. I unticked both now the spindle is @max speed when Mach3 is @max speed. I hope my silly mistake help this community

    Re: Huanyang Chinese VFD settings and manual here!

    Hi all, especially Mactec54.

    I am hoping to start up my new spindle/vfd this weekend. I have read through this whole string of posts a couple of times now and believe I have extracted the details correctly to set this up. My first stage will be to just get the spindle powered up and controlled through the on-board panel of the VFD. Stage two will be to configure it to work with the MACH3 CNC software

    Here is my plan, I am hoping you can check the details so that I don't do like others have done and that is to let the magic smoke get away.

    VFD: Haunyang
    Spindle: 2.2Kw, 220V, 8.5A, 400Hz
    VFD & Spindle purchased together as a set from Ebay-Motor Mall

    VFD Parameters
    PD000=0 (Parameter change: 0=not locked 1=locked
    PD001=0 (Control source: 0=VFD panel, 1=Remote Control)
    PD002=0 (Source of operating frequency: 0=VFD panel, 1=Remote Control)
    PD005=400 (Max Operating Frequency: 0.00 ~ 400 Hz)
    PD004=400 (Base Frequency: 0.01 ~ 400.00 Hz)
    PD003=400 (Main Frequency: 0.00 ~ 400.00 Hz)
    ** Motor Mall (supplier) suggests setting PD072 to 400
    PD007=20 (Min. Frequency: 0.01 ~ 20.00 Hz)
    PD008=220 (Max. Voltage: 0.1V and up)
    PD011=120 (Frequency lower limit: 0.00 ~ 400.00 Hz)
    PD009=15 (Intermediate voltage: 0.00 and up)
    PD010=8 (Minimum Voltage: 0.1~50.0)
    PD13= 08 (to restore VFD to Factory Default Settings)
    PD014 =12 (Accel time: 0.1 ~ 6500.0 seconds)
    PD015 =12 (Decel time: 0.1 ~ 6500.0 seconds) *see note below
    PD141=220 (Motor Rated Voltage - set to voltage rating from motor specs )
    PD142=9 (Motor Rated Amps - set to Amp rating from motor specs)
    PD143=2 (Motor Number of Poles - set to information from motor mfg.)
    PD144=3000 (Max Motor RPM - Unsure of calculation to get this value???)
    * PD15 is ignored IF PD26=1 Then the Spindle will Coast to a Stop

    Wiring
    From source: 220v single phase (North America)
    3 wire, 14 gauge cable
    To
    10 AMP, 2 pole No Fuse Breaker
    To
    Dual pole switch
    To
    VFD (R = Hot #1, S = Hot #2, E = Ground wire)

    VFD to Motor: (2.2Kw, 220V, 8.5A, 400Hz)
    U to motor
    V to motor
    W to motor
    Ground to motor ground (need to remove cap and add internal ground wire to housing)
    NOTE, with cover removed, determine which pins are used on the connector for UVW.
    Cable to motor will be 4 conductor, 18 gauge, shielded, High-flex cable

    Thanks in advance for the assistance!

    Re: Huanyang Chinese VFD settings and manual here!

    The vfd / spindle setup went ok - mostly.

    Configuration of the drive went well regarding parameters. Spindle started up fine, and ran fine. The spindle was even fairly well balanced with only slight vibrations.

    The cap on my motor is plastic underneath the electrical connector so connecting the ground wire there was not an option. Instead, I pulled the ground wire out from the cable insulation and routed it outside the connector. I then connected it to the spindle bracket. Easy fix.

    At present, I have a potentiometer on a remote panel to control the speed, and I have the on/off controlled by MACH3 via a relay.

    Following typical "break in proceedures" of industrial spindles, I slowly (over a period of hours) broght the spindle up to 24,000 RPM. The spindle runs a lot hotter than I would expect.

    QUESTION: How hot does your spindle get (this is the 2.2kw, air cooled spindle)? Most of the heat on mine comes from the lower bearing area. I can barely hold my hand on the spindle after it runs for about an hour.
