C1, how woud you make this in Aspire?
More specifically the curve that defects the air. Senna made it on his lathe but I'm latheless
Thanks

Thank You.
Being latheless is is a bad situation. Being mill-less is also bad. Being less both of them is intolerable unless you have a CNC machine and Aspire. Fortunately, I have all of the above in spades.
It would be something like:
1. Inner circle vector
2. Outer circle vector
3. A shape vector that looks like the shape of the top surface.
4. A shape vector that looks like the shape of the bottom surface.
Select the circles and the top surface vector and do a two rail sweep operation. Repeat using the circles and the bottom surface vector. This would need to be a two side machining operation. If the bottom is flat you wouldn't need the bottom surface vector and it's a one side machining operation.
I've never tried modeling something like this, so I spent 10 minutes and created these models. The one on the right is similar to what you want and the one on the left is just to see if I could reverse the direction of the shape. It was just a matter of clicking on one option box. All done with three vectors.
It will require accurate measurements and drawing to duplicate the air deflector exactly but it wouldn't be difficult at all. There's probably nothing magic about the shape he turned, just did what looked right for aiming the air blast outward. I just roughed out something similar without regard to dimensions or even looking at the photo. This one is 1.5" thick as a result. The lip he added would be replicated at the outer edge end of the shape vector where I left it flat.

Thanks C1, what I looking at doing is just one side since the bottom does not need to be profiled.
Thank You.
Well the PC is working great faster than before the crash. I have all the software installed Mach and the 2010 screen set now I am ready to make some saw dust..:wee:
Oh Thanks Drools..

you are welcome Lou, glad I could help.
Thank You.
I don't remember if you have Aspire or not.
If not, tell me the diameters you want the circles to be and the maximum and minimum height you want it to be and I'll SWAG the shape and include the little kick-up at the outer edge for you if you need it. Then generate the gcode and post the files in your build log.
If you just have Vcarve Pro, draw it similar to what I did this morning and include the shape you want (to scale) and save it as a .dxf file and post it. The length of the shape vector should be the same as the distance from the hole vector to the outer edge vector. I can work directly from that.

not personaly C1 but I have a buddy that has it. If I bug him enough I can get some tool paths generated to my specifications (tool, speed, feed etc...)
How about I make a dxf for you to import and work from there. I really apreciate your help. I'm pretty good with AutoCAD.
Thank You.
Then just create a 3D model in AutoCAD and send him an .stl.I'm pretty good with AutoCAD.

gee thanks Gerry for knocking me down a peg or two, :-P I can make a 2D AutoCAD drawing pretty easily but my 3D skills are still in the infant stage.
Thank You.
Didn't get the parts ready to assemble tonight, but will do it tomorrow. They all need a final coat of poly on the back side. Will do that late this evening so it can dry overnight.
The top panel has a wet coat of poly on it in the photo and will have the satin look when it dries.

Bumps on the head from the moderator is an integral part of the learning process, and is part of why I have so much fun at this place.
Drools, draw an accurate closed vector cross section of the part as it will look after it is cut. I will set the model to that height and shape. I'll need the hole diameter and the outer diameter. A top view with any mounting holes will be good also.

I'm working on it, however the the wife is insisting on find the haloween stuff in the attic...
Thank You.
Is it possible for anyone to export the Basket Weave vectors into a DXF file?

OOPS! Sorry 'bout that. I grabbed the wrong file and sent it to a .zip file.
Try this one.

I glued both boxes together this morning and have finished the one for Liz.
The other one doesn't have a top panel yet, as I need to find out whether to use the older center piece style or the new one that I used on Liz's box.

Thanks! I am messing with Aspire now, do you think you can post the TOP to the Liz box? I can open crv3d files now so a dxf isnt needed
