    SPACE buffering in DNC Unit

    Hi,

I was wandering that how DNC Unit Interprets a NC program with SPACE characters.

    For Example -

    N1 G90 G54 G90 G17
    N2 M03 S500
    N3 G00 X40.0 Y40.0 Z20.0
    N4 G01 Z-2.0 F500
    N5X52.075Y-103.576
    N6X50.063Y-103.019
    N7X49.843Y-102.854
    N8X47.612Y-101.915
    N9X45.380 Y-100.739
    N10X44.404Y-100.050
    N11G0Z39.014
    N12 G1X44.019Y-115.923F9900
    N13G0Z37.014
    N14G1Z35.717F500
    N15X44.513Y-116.306F3000
    N16X48.296Y-114.177
    N17 X49.843Y-113.585
    N18X54.306Y-112.398
    N19X58.770 Y-112.104
    N20X63.233Y-112.579
    N21X65.464Y-113.216
    N22X67.696 Y-113.958
    N23X69.927Y-114.982
    N24 M05
    N25 M30

IS IT POSSIBLE FOR A DNC TO INTERPRET THE Above mentioned program correctly ?

    Thanks
    Ashish

    What is a DNC unit?

If you mean a CNC control I believe a Fanuc will "interpret" the program correctly.

    Thanks for your reply.

Older systems (Like 6M Control) don't have sufficient memory to interpret BIGGER SIZED Programs. It may be a NC Program created from a CAM software.

So, DNC Unit works as a OBJECT to read the Huge NC programs from personal computer, buffer it properly & then pass it on to the MACHINE CONTROL.

Machine control executes the program accordingly.

I hope that I was not too confusing.

    Thanks

I know what DNC is, I've just never heard it referred to as a "DNC unit".

I had the doubt that will the DNC Unit buffer properly a NC Program which has irregular spaces between the codes.

    Thanks

According to the Fanuc 0M-C manual, spaces are ignored unless they are within a comment:

"If it is used in a statement other than a comment, the character will not be registered in memory. If used in a comment, it will be registered in memory."
