    Gecko 540 wiring

I just got my gecko drive from DeepGroove. It came with steppers prewired with connections. Just for the hell of it I swapped the old steppers of the MaxNc10 and put on the new ones 280oz. The wiring chart on the Gecko info shows...

    2 DC relay coils
    A relay power supply
    Motor power supply
    4 limit switchs
    VFD drive ? What's this?
    E stop

I hooked to my Dell with Mach 2 and I can jog the axis without a power supply.
I can get only 2 axis working , I haven't gone into bios yet to check for EPP.
Need to get Z axis working.
My X is working the Z ,so I swapped the cables . Ran a pocket program and it worked .

I'd say it goes 20 or 30 imp. , I ran it in a wizard mode

The VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) is used to control a mill's spindle. Essentially, it replaces the potentiometer on the existing spindle control board.

You can download any version of it and save it to a USB flash drive or burn it on your own cd.
I don't like to have anything other than needed software on my machine computers.
I do keep Sheetcam on them to do last minutes adjustments, but I transfer all my files using a USB flash drive.
    Works great.

I can't download anything like Mach 3 on it.

I bought Mach 3 on a disk in the UK from ArcEuroTrade - very nice, even has my name on the disk and comes up on the title bar too. I assume there a US sellers that do this.

There is something about getting a hard copy here.
    ArtSoft USA - Purchase

Not sure if they will send you something without ordering a license though.

Also if you have the mach 2 license, it may be good for Mach 3, but I am not certain about that.
I would join the forum over there.
I am sure someone would point you in the right direction.

    Mariss.....

If you are listening, someone has just gotta build a G540 like unit with the same controllers as the G320x all in one... And if possible up the power output a little and it would sell a TON of them... I really like the idea of the three drives breakoutboard and spindle coolant control on one board like that. Just easy and simple... Make it with some more powerful drives and price it reasonably and it would be the goto ticket for anyone converting a medium sized to knee mill... Great little design BTW... peace

Got her up & running today, 40,000 steps to the inch worked for .25-20 leadscrew. What kind of limit switches should I get? Does Radio Shack have a suitable limit sw.?
    Thanks
