    Mach 3 motor tuning

    Hey, just replaced a lead screw and i'm trying to figure out what my steps per mm need to be.

    motors are set to 200 steps per rev. my driver board is set to 1/8steps.

    lead screw is acme 1/2-10

    i always have trouble figuring this out.

    thanks

    Well I haven't done this for awhile but lets give it a shot..

    200 steps x 8 equals 1600 steps per revolution.
    1 rev will take you .1 inch

    to go 10 inches you want 10x1600 or 16000 steps.

    10 inches =254 mm
    254mm = 16000 steps

    mm = 16000/254
    mm = 62.992126

    Close?

    He missed a 0.

    to go 10 inches you want 100x1600 or 160000 steps.

    254mm = 160,000 steps.
