    X2 Finally Done

After more than a year in pieces in my garage, my X2 is finally ready to start making chips. That is....after I get it trammed in. I'm trying to figure out how to mount my Shumatech DRO-350 next. Any ideas of pics welcome. Finally got some pics on my X2 up. Let me know what you guys think.

That's a pretty thing. Shame you have to start gunking it up now.
Did the Shumatech on my X2 long ago. It was fun putting it together.

Came off right after the CNC was up and running but made the part machining easier.

Thanks Hoss. I have to get it trammed in before I mount the scales. That's next on the agenda. I parted the head and can't for the life of me get it trammed back. Any ideas? I tried the rod idea here:

    Mini-Mill Spindle-Column Alignment

but I had a lot of trouble with it......

    hi

I'm from Slovenia and in my language "nateg" means a tension, or a different meaning to deceive someone. Then I thought that your name has anything to do with the Slovenian language.

I've given it some thought. If I had the funds I'd order up the electronics and a cncfusion kit tomorrow. It might happen one day, but for now I think I'll play with the manual side of things. I took a few classes a while back in machine shop and really like them.....

I'm guessing you've never used a cnc'd x2, or those handwheels would be in the scrap pile! Nice looking little machine though.

I'd like to cnc someday. I just can't justify the cost right now and I'm not experienced enough to make my own parts the Hoss way....

No need, Cncfusion makes it a piece of cake.
Buy it and bolt it on.

I know what ya mean man, I'm "ballin' on a budget" too. Luckily, uncle scam was unusually kind to me during tax time last year allowing me to fund the build. If you get the fusion kit, go with kit 4; I debated taking the cheaper route, but I'm glad I did it right the first time. Plus, they're very helpful in supporting their products. And with a couple small mods you can easily get 4.75" in the y, also nice to have.

Now, if I could only find a way to get this moneypit to start replenishing my bank account....

I'd definitely go for kit #4 with the extra jam packed ball nuts and the zero backlash couplings. Might as well go the whole way if I'm gonna drop that much : )
