How can I switch gears in a program? I am using a 1.5 turbo mill at 1200RPM (high gear), and then tapping later at 200RPM(low gear). Unless I manualy put it in handle, then hit the switch gears button it defauls to the lowest speed in high gear, which will not give me the correct spindle speed and booger my threads. I have a high/Med/Low gear. Thanks,

M41 1st gear "Low Gear"
M42 2nd gear "Med Gear"
M43 3rd gear "High Gear"
Try one of those if the spindle is not auto adjusting to the rpms that you program.
If that does not work the spindle gear change M codes range from M40 to M45

Tried it. Didnt work. Just defaults to the low or high gear that I am in. Maybe I am not typing it in the program correct or I need to add something to make it change like a G05 or something? Got any ideas?

Did you try M40? That should be auto gear select.
There always is a chance of M175....M176....
But dont hold me too that Im just trying to remember when I ran one of those:cheers:

I did try M40. Another machine we have uses M39 to change gears it is a cinncinatti gilbert using camsoft as the controller. Any suggestions???
