Some advice will be very much appreciated

    Gidday folks

I have just been introduced to the possibility of building my own CNC router.

My plan is to build a small DIY CNC router since I am into flight-simulation and model aircraft things... (34" X 12" roughly)

I need some drill rods, bushings, leadscrews,backlash-nuts etc..

Do you know a good and reliable supplier in NZ or OZ for these parts ? I am looking for mid-range quality with reasonable price. Have seen some good stuff from the US - but the shipping cost ...

    Cheers

I don't have a great deal of experience seeing as I haven't finished my first yet, but after looking for quite some time I just ended up biting the bullet and getting the parts from the US. Unfortunately the economies of scale out here aren't as good and companies avoid supplying to individuals.

I can give you one supplier for endmills that is quite useful: https://www.machineryhouse.com.au/ . Hope that helps.

    Hi Isaac

Have a look at ToolsNZ.com in their CNC and Motion Control category.

I get my endmills from CarbideNZ - their customer service has been fantastic.

My cnc X3 mill uses a Gecko540 drive - there is an Australian agent. I haven't purchased from him yet, but I seriously recommend this product. I'm an electronics technician with plenty of previous experience designing stepper motor interfaces. There's no way I could build anything as good as the Gecko drives.

    Hi Pete

Cheers for the info - this is awesome !

I am not at the electronics stage yet (this is my first ever experience) but once I will get there I will take all of it into account.

    Cheers
