    Upgrading Boxford TCL 125 CNC Lathe Electronics

    I picked up a Boxford TCL 125 CNC lathe with a turret tool changer like this:

    [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rID_OoHl3D4"]YouTube- Turret on a Boxford TCL[/nomedia]

    I'm planning on upgrading it to run Mach and/or EMC2 and was wondering if anyone had advice on what hardware they would utilize while modernizing the electronics.

    I have read this blog: http://fieldofcows.com/index.php?tit..._125_TCL_Notes

    and I've also read the prior Boxford TCL 125 thread here at CNCzone.com

    I would like to avoid building any custom circuit boards if at all possible and stick with off the shelf components.

    A 110v VFD for the motor?

    Two Gecko G250's and a breakout board?

    Or a G540 kit and ignore one of the ports (2 + 1 may be used for the Turret Tool Changer)?

    Ideas welcome to keep things as simple as possible.

    Look into a Bardac 1600i if it is a DC motor. It can control that spindle motor in 110 or 220v. Does the boxford have a gear reduction on the leadscrews? Are you planning on threading? If so, I believe you want the highest voltage drivers you can acquire.
