    FP4NC

I have an FP4NC runs good but It has a few issues.
#1 the vertical head slide will not go all the way back to the rear position it stops hard right before the locator. I've tried rotating the spindle by hand but it still won't go.
#2 sometimes not all the time when you do a tool change the machine will shut down. It might do this several times in a row and then it will work.
    Any ideas? Thanks

Have you solved the vertical head problem? I had the same problem, it was caused by a loose spacer in the 2 speed transmission, I removed the sliding head and disassembled the transmission to find it.

No I haven't had time to look into it yet we've been very busy. This gives me a direction to take when I get time to look into it. The tool changing problem seems to have been a sequence problem

See that small spacer laying in the back? It's supposed to be on the end of the countershaft.

Be careful sliding the head, and gentle. The shifter fork is easy to break and hard to replace.

Thank you for the pic. I'm not sure what I'll be getting into when I get a chance to tear into it. I'm learning as I go on this machine
