    VF-4 Spindle Drive Alarm

Everybody has been scratching there head about this one.....

I have a 1995 VF-4, with a 10K spindle and a mitsubishi spindle drive. This machine is in very good condition, having never been in a manufacturing environment.

After pulling a piece out of the vise and causing a noise in the transmission-I had Haas come out to repair the machine. They installed a new motor, transmission and 10k spindle.

After the repair I started getting alarm code 123 (spindle drive alarm) at around the 700 rpm range. The fault code on the drive unit is E.0C2 (overcurrent shut off-constant speed).

The Haas techs have been here six times now just for the new alarm-with no success. Any ideas about would be greatly apprciated. Thanks.

    Drive alarms

If the original service did not change the drive, there's no reason to suspect it.
    That message (EOC) is overcurrent.
It can be caused by a short in the motor or the wiring to it.
You should check the load meter readings thru the range of spindle speeds.
It should be less than 25% when it gets up to speed - at all speeds.
Anything else suggests the wrong motor, wrong motor winding, or drive parameter error.

Have them park their @$$ there until they get it figured out and adjust their time accordingly. Most likely they did something wrong during the replacement or have bad parts.

    Thanks for the post.
I should add that the spindle load meter is all over the place at different RPM's. And, rarely below 50%.

    parameter 150

You should NOT change parameter 150.
    This is non-vector-drive machine.
It uses an open-loop variable speed drive.
That parameter is how the control knows the ratio between high and low gear.
Many things will stop working properly if you have anything besides the standard shipped value there.

Well it appears that they finally have it fixed....the motor was wired incorrectly. Thanks again for all of the post.
