    Strange EMC malfunction

I've had this happen a couple of times now, and I am wondering if anyone has seen it before:

Machine will suddenly stop jogging on one axis. It will jog about a centimeter or two and then stop, or it will sit and buzz loudly as if the stepper is stalled. It is not always in the same place, sort of random.

I usually begin checking all cabling, sensors, etc, but the problem persists... two axis' not working... usually Z and Y.

After not finding any wiring problems, I decide to exit and restart EMC. To my surprise everything is running normally, no problems.

This has happened twice now, once it ruined a job.

My machine has been running flawlessly, cutting 1000s of parts over the past 5 months.. but suddenly this EMC issue. I do not use this computer for anything but EMC so I do not update software, browse the internet, etc, with it.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Tom

Did the axis stop and the readout on the screen keep going? Or did they both stop? This is a stepper setup ?
