Cut with water level about 2 to 3 inches below material.

Dross build up is also a function of cut speed and height versus material thickness and amps used. Consult the owners manual for amp recomendations for the thickness you are cutting and adjust speed up or down to all but eliminate the dross. What will be left after proper adjustment will remove very easilly, sometimes with just a putty knife. I know one or two guys who just throw what they cut into a tub full of ceramic media and walk away. When they come back a bit later the item is paint or plate ready. But that is an added expense and time consumer too. HTH!!!

    Agreed.
Dross should be dealt with by adjusting travel speed and or amps. Your plasma cutter manual will have speeds listed for the thickness of material and amps your using. Get to that speed zone and you will minimise your required cleanup. I know I have it right when I can just drop my part on my shop floor after cutting and most of the dross falls off.

Oops, forgot to mention. Correct cutting air pressure will also influence dross levels too.
