    DXF File Transfers

I'm new to BobCad and I have a bunch of AutoCad 2000 files I'd like to transfer to BobCad V20. I have all the books and videos. I follow the directions and I get " cannot open file". The book says to explode into points, arcs, and lines. But splines cannot be exploded in AutoCad. Can anyone explain how to get files with splines into BobCad for me??

Save files as v12 dxf and splines will be converted to polylines. You may have to load the .dxf back into AutoCAD if you need to explode the polyline as well.

I've done that several times to the same file and no luck. When I check the attributes they show up as splines and I have to redraw on another layer to translate to BobCad.

When you save as .dxf, you have to choose VERSION 12 .dxf. It's the very last file type option in the save as drop down box.

Try this. Draw a spline. Save As V12 .dxf. Close the drawing. Open it up. It will be a polyline.

This should work every time. If not, you're not saving as a version 12 .dxf, because a version 12 .dxf can NOT contain splines.

I sometimes battle to open AutoCad DXF files in BobWire. You have AutoCad 2000. Save the files in iges format(AutoCad 2000) then open them in BobCAD. I'm sure you'll get better results....

AutoCAD can't save as iges. I think you could get an add on module that could, but not the base package.
