    Fanuc 16 SRAM memory expansion

    Hi folks,

Trying to expand the memory of a Fanuc 16 TTA with a 1 Meg module. Backed up and replaced the module OK.

When I restored, the tape memory is smaller than before

Being a Fanuc 16A there is no PCMCIA card slot, just a RS 232 port for file transfer.

The transfer works fine but I can't see a way to loading a blank 512k SRAM file to clear the new RAM - file is for a Fanuc 16B perhaps, found on the net.

I can load some small part programs but transfer stalls on the file which is much larger than the present undersized memory.

Initialised with reset & delete on power up with parameter write enabled before restoring.

Set the 99xx parameters for a main and sub memory as per TTA requirements.

Also have checked out other posts, any ideas thanks?

You have to enable the memory with an option parameter (99xx series).
Depending on the of 16TTA version, you may have two sram modules (one for each side).
I can PM the applicable parameters.

    Thanks memoryman,

The control layout is PSU-Main-Opt1-Opt2-I/O. The main card is a A16B-2200-0900, its printed slot descriptions agree with the plan in the 16A maintenance manual.

So slot 4 is for tape and parameter RAM. In the system config window it originally showed 256k, it is now showing 1 Meg.

Thanks for the offer on parameters, size is bit of a mystery to me, the old config was 256k for main and 256k for sub memory with the additional sub memory parameter off.

I'm wondering if it is a procedural thing, the machine parameter files (37k & 35k) are certainly different but the pmc parameter files (282k) are identical bar a couple of lines.

Perhaps loading the pmc parameters into both sides of the control is partitioning off extra memory which is then lost.

    regards...

The control has sufficient sram (1M) for 256k per side AND all parameters.
I suspect your options. What is your system software, e.g. B002 ver 05? What are your parameters 9920 and up?

Forgot to mention with the 256k RAM, RH has about 110k and LH has about 16k. Sound normal?
