    single flute or down spiral?

Anybody have expirence with single flute or down spiral router bits. I carve signs and lake maps. Would like to cut down on burs and tool mark. I am using maple, oak, and walnut.

What kind of bits are you using now? What kind of tool marks are you talking about? Downcut spirals should get rid of fuzzy edges. They do tend to get dull quicker because there is nowhere for the chips to go. And you may have to be careful of tearout. Do you have a picture of a sign or map?

Just redid my comp. Think I wiped the pics. I'll send some when I git em. I'm going to try the spiral down. I'm also looking for a single cutting edge 60 degree v with a small flat on the end. Any ideas? Thank for all the replys.
