Looking for a lathe tool for this part. Need some guidance

Trying to find a tool to cut this part. Anyone have an idea on what I can use. I need the tool to cut the female part on the face.

You will need a full radius trepan tool. Can't tell you much more without dimensions from your part.

An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

    Thanks for the link Geof!

The part is 6.900" diameter. From the face to the bottom of the radius is around 2". It is only .889" from the flat to the bottom of the radius.

Another possibility is a 93x35 degree turning tool. If you have one laying around and ground off some radial clearance, they work good. (As long as that outer angle is greater than about 40 degrees off centerline of part.) Just a thought.

Depending on what the rad is on the od corner, you might need 2 treepan tools one to do the OD and the other to do the groove.
Those iscar ones work great. Sandvik has some good ones also. ive used them both with equal results.

    Delw is right.

You are going to need two tools.
One a full radius trepan in a boring bar style. It will need to be the boring bar style because of the depth of the big radius. The OD styles won't go that deep.

It would probably also make sense to run a boring bar along the hub and blend the radius at the bottom. If you use the full radius tool for this feature it will chatter and the chip control will be horrible.

Iscar is the best choice for facegrooving/trepan because they have the greatest variety although their catalog is impossible to read...
