Fark, that is some frame, one of the strongest looking on the forum. Good job on getting it to 0.2mm. Nothing wrong with that. You got bits of steel everywhere. Looks like a lot of small tack welds to tie it all together. This might be the secret, a series of small low heat welds instead of bigger stitch welds or long stringer beads etc.

Do you plan on cutting mild steel with it?

For now, mostly wood. Later on I intend on putting a 3 to 5hp spindle and flood cooling for aluminium, but will see what my 1.5hp router can do in the meantime.

The main bed frame was built, allowing it to warp as it please. The last (top) layer of tubing on the bed and where the X bearings will bolt too were added last, taking care not to let them warp and careful measuring/clamping.

I try to keep the welds so you can touch the weld after about 15 seconds, lots of small welds, criss cross weld pattern and go slow.

    Cheers,

Sounds great, just what I have been thinking of doing too. I will follow your build closely.
