Keep or upgrade the FR-SE 7.5k

Hi I have a 1986 leadwell mcv550 with M0 control. The VFD is bad, seI01 board is looking to be the problem. Im fairly good with electronics and i'd like some opinions/thoughts on upgrading to a newer VFD. This one is a FR-SE 7.5k Should I upgrade or get another FR-SE so I have parts for future. I just hate to spend money on this drive if its not worth it. Thanks in advance to all that reply. If anyone has parts for sale let me know.

If you go with a VFD, I would get the feedback option as your SP motor should have the P.W. feedback on it?

It must have some sort of feed back for spindle orientation right? It has a tool changer and can do tapping functions. I just get a lil nervous because there are quite a bit of small wires coming from the original vfd.

There usually is a feed back from the motor itself and either/or an encoder on the spindle or just an orientation sensor for tool changing.
If it has tapping option then there should be an encoder on the spindle?

Have you talked to Mitsubishi yet. In most cases they can repair the whole drive or just the board. Not sure about pricing but should be a lot less aggravation then trying to retro-fit a new VFD in there.
