    Small live tooling problem

    Hi all.

I have a minor programming problem using live tooling in my Churchill Omega 65 with Fanuc 18t.

As I am going to mill a surface, using the Y-axis, I want to lock the spindle (M50) But if I insert the M50 in my program the machine stop moving as soon as it meets a G1 block. There is no alarm showing. The machine just have a green light in the cycle start button, as when it is machining.
If I run the same program, but without the M50, it will work fine.

    Program example:
    T1111
    G98 M92
    M14 S1000
    G0 C0
    M50 (spindle lock)
    G0 Z0 X60 Y60
    G0 X55
    G1 Y-60 F160
    G0 X200 Z200 Y0
    M51
    M30

Hope someone can give a suggestion, that can solve my small issue.

    Thanks a lot!

    small live tooling problem

Take a look on your positions screen and see if your Y axis is moving. I may be moving real slow. Your feed is at 160. You may know this already. It may be reading the F160 as F.0160 because there is no decimal.

The Y-axis is not moving at all.
The machine is acting like, if you in f/rev mode, is programming a G1 without any spindle rotation.
And if I delete the M50, the program works fine.

Why bother locking the spindle? Doesn't it use the spindle as a C-axis for milling also?

    Not in this case.
I'm machining in stainless steel, and have a fine surface roughness requirement. I experience a little shaking, if I don't lock the spindle.

    What is M92 for?
Are you sure M50 is for spindle lock on your machine?
    Is M31 also available?
What value you have in parameter 5110?

are you in inch per revolution feed or inch per minute G94/ G95 or G99/G98
depending on your control set up.
