    Desktop 3D Milling

    Hi,

I'm a newbie here on the forum.
I am looking to buy a Desktop 3D Milling machine but am not sure which one.

I looked at the MDX-40A from Roland but that was like 13K. IM Services is about half that with the 4th axis. I am a 3D sculpturer so I need a good machine that provides some very good detail. Can anyone shed some light on what to look for as well as other manutactures I should be considering?

    Many Thanks,
    Dutch

You might look at the Taig mill

They offer a 4th axis option that's not too expensive, and the quality and support on their machines is really good. They run on Mach3, which is also pretty popular around here. I do a lot of detailed 4th axis sculpture carving myself, and I've had good luck with the Taig system. If the sorts of things you're making fall within its work envelope (12"X, 4.5" Y, 6" Z travels) it's a really good alternative, and I offer a discount on them to make it even sweeter.
