    VM2 Cuts too deep

    Hi Everyone

I am having problems with a 4 year VM2 with about 2000 hrs on it.

The machine cuts about 0.009 too deep.

I have setup a plate to face to 10mm on parallels. I have set the part offset to the top of the parallels. The Facing operation is set to 10 mm positive on the final cleanup pass. The plate is usually 0.010 too thin.

Can anyone suggest what to do?

    Paul

Most likely the vice is lifting the part off the parallels. Tap it down with a soft mallet after tightening the vice, or get a better vice!
