what type of switch do you need to use a momentary contact( normally open )or(normally closed) switch on the home and limit switches

Either one would work, most switches can be made NC or NO.

Either will work but N/C are prefered. In the event of a failure, cut wire, it will be noticed. If a N/O switch failed or a wire were to be cut, you wouldn't know it, machine damage could result.
