    Looking for Metric endmills - Extra Length

    Hello,
    I am having trouble finding extra length endmills in metric sizes.
    My current tools are only about 50mm OAL, but I really could use more like 6 inches.
    I would like to get sizes:
    3mm
    6mm
    10mm

    I have found several web stores that have OAL of 6" on TIALN bits, but they are all standard sizes... I will use standard if it's impossible to find metric, just hoping someone would have a recommendation.

    This is the closest I've found to what I'm looking for.

    Thanks!
    J

    Talking Extra Length Metric End Mills

    Take a look at these two sites;

    Carbide Cutting Tools Specialty Tooling Belleville Mi

    Home

    It looks like they offer tools in the sizes you want & a little longer than what you currently have.

    You might also consider calling and getting a quote on a "special order " for the lengths you require in the configuration you desire.

    Sorry but both of those dont really have any extra length.
    3mm = 50mm OAL (same as I already have)
    Thier 6mm extended length = 75mm OAL, my normal one has 65mm OAL.

    Thank you for trying though, some interesting bits in there

    Extra long milling cutters

    I would suggest you look at OSG or Mitsubishi carbide endmills if you need extra long tools

    Does this help?

    Nots sure if its of any use, but I found this whilst researching mill types

    What material are you machining? Can you use a slim extended length holder vs. a really long end mill?

    I am mainly cutting 6061 aluminum, but I almost always do a test cut on wood to make sure everything is accurate before going to aluminum.

    I have not seen any of the extended holders, do you know where I can look at some?

    What type of machine spindle do you have? Cat 40, R8, HSK?

    Check this webpage out. This product will hold tools with shank diameters up to 6mm. The holders have very slim nose diameters.

    For extended length metric end mills, check out Robb Jacks FM series of tools specifically for Aluminum. They have tools a little bit longer than what you are using but not much longer.
